I am an avid green juicer. I prefer to eat most of my fruit and vegetables whole, but I try to have a litre of green juice for breakfast every morning. It is packed with so many nutrients, that I feel my body thanking me, as I sip it. By adding the carrots and apples, along with a couple of lemons and some ginger, this tastes wonderful and refreshing, a bit like a vibrant salad in a glass. However, if you are not used to green juices, it might take some time to acquire a taste for it.
Having a good juicer is key. If you are interested in boosting your health and can afford it, it is a wonderful investment. The one I use is the Omega NC900HDSS. It is absolutely brilliant!
However there are plenty more affordable options out there also.
Super Power Green Juice
Makes about 1litre
Ingredients
A bunch of kale
1 large or 2 medium heads of romain lettuce
A bunch of parsley (flat or curly)
2-3 stalks of celery
2-3 cucumbers
2-3 carrots
1 large or two medium lemons, peeled
2 apples (any kind but green are best)
A piece of ginger
🌿 Juice everything and enjoy at once, while all the vitamins are still abundant!
I only use fresh organic produce, which I thoroughly wash beforehand.
This is a main idea of what I use as staple greens, but a juice can be modified depending on what is in season, what is in my fridge and what I am in the mood for. I will often add lambs lettuce, Swiss chard, spinach, coriander, oranges, berries, pineapple, turmeric, just to name a few. Feel free to experiment, using all your own favourites. However always aim for lots and lots of dark leafy greens!
